Dr. Adamolekun's Legacy Celebrated at 80th Birthday

On 17 July, a celebration was held in Iju, Ondo State, to mark the posthumous 80th birthday of Dr. Adamolekun, who was born on 14 July 1946. The event was attended by over three hundred guests, including elders from Iju and Itaogbolu, celebrating her legacy rather than mourning her death.

Dr. Adamolekun was a prefect at Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School in the 1966 set, where she embodied the values of discipline, excellence, compassion, service, and responsibility instilled by the school's founder, Miss R J Pelly. She trained as a nurse and midwife, later earning degrees in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, and Social Work.

In 2000, she founded Kaleyewa House to support elderly Nigerians in aging with dignity. Tragically, she was murdered on 4 May 2002 while working on behalf of Kaleyewa House, but her mission and impact continue to inspire many.
