AGF Fagbemi in Court for Sowore's Defamation Case

Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of Nigeria, represented the prosecution in the defamation case against Sowore, who is charged with criminal defamation, cyberstalking, and incitement due to social media posts labeling President Tinubu as “a criminal.” During the proceedings before Justice Mohammed Umar, Fagbemi opposed a defense request for the Director-General of the DSS, Oluwatosin Ajayi, to testify, arguing that it was unnecessary and would prolong the trial. The prosecution emphasized the need for an expedited hearing, while the defense sought additional witnesses to challenge the allegations.

Sowore has pleaded not guilty and consistently denied any wrongdoing. The Federal High Court previously dismissed a no-case submission from Sowore, requiring him to present his defense.
