APC Governors Seek Changes in Campaign Council Structure

Aggrieved governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) are engaging with President Bola Tinubu over concerns regarding the composition of the party's Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections. This follows the unveiling of a 223-member campaign council, with Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice-chairman, and former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General.

Some governors, dissatisfied with their roles or omissions from the council, have sought individual meetings with Tinubu while he was in Europe. They expressed frustration over the organization of campaign structures in their states and the roles assigned to them.

The governors are contemplating another meeting with Tinubu to advocate for adjustments to the campaign structure and address grassroots coordination concerns. This follows a previous meeting on August 27 at the Presidential Villa in Abuja aimed at resolving disagreements about the campaign council.

The Presidency indicated that the list of council members was not final and adjustments could be made.
