Akwa Ibom Launches AI Education Reform for Primary Schools

Akwa Ibom State has initiated an AI-driven basic education reform program designed to improve foundational literacy and numeracy in public primary schools. Launched by the state government, the program aims to strengthen teaching quality and enhance learning outcomes.

It aligns with the state’s ARISE agenda and is set to provide personalized learning experiences tailored to each pupil's academic progress. The program will be implemented in partnership with Eidu and the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education, utilizing a data-driven AI-enabled instructional model.

In its first phase, the initiative is expected to reach 6,000 pupils across 67 public primary schools during the 2025-2026 academic session. Prof. Ubong Essien Umoh, the state’s Commissioner for Education, described the program as a significant milestone in the government's efforts to enhance the quality of basic education.

This initiative reflects the broader educational vision of Governor Umo Bassey Eno, focusing on human capital development and sustainable investment in foundational education.
