Air Peace Suspends Benin Flights Due to Runway Closure

Air Peace has announced the suspension of all flights to and from Benin Airport following the temporary closure of the airport's runway due to a runway incursion. This decision was communicated in a statement on Thursday, indicating that the suspension affects all scheduled operations to the airport.

The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers, stating that the suspension was necessitated by circumstances beyond its control. The incident that led to the runway closure involved an Enugu Air Embraer E170 aircraft operating Flight 4264 from Lagos to Benin, which overran the end of Runway 05 while landing on Thursday.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has initiated an investigation into the incident, confirming that all 63 passengers and five crew members on board were safely accounted for and that no injuries were reported. A preliminary report from the bureau is expected within 30 days in accordance with regulatory requirements.
