Enugu Air Incident at Benin Airport Triggers Investigation

On Thursday, an Enugu Air aircraft, operating as Flight 4264 from Lagos to Benin, veered off the runway after landing at Benin Airport in Edo State at approximately 3:10 p.m. local time. The Embraer E170 aircraft, registered as 5N-ENR, carried 63 passengers and 5 crew members.

Fortunately, all occupants were safely evacuated without injuries. Enugu Air confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft experienced a runway excursion and assured the public of the safety of all passengers and crew.

Following the incident, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) deployed its Go Team to the airport to initiate a full investigation, which included preserving evidence, interviewing the flight crew, and assessing runway conditions. Capt.

Alex Badeh Jr., Director-General of the NSIB, expressed relief that there were no injuries and emphasized the seriousness of runway excursions, warranting thorough investigations.
