Akpabio Pledges to Expose Terrorism Sponsors in Nigeria

Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Nigerian Senate, declared his intention to expose individuals sponsoring terrorism and violent crime in Nigeria, regardless of their societal status. He made this statement during an interdenominational church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

Akpabio reflected on Nigeria's security challenges and urged citizens not to lose hope despite the ongoing wave of kidnappings and insurgent attacks. He introduced a monthly prayer program nearly two decades ago to confront the rise in violent crime.

Akpabio admitted that insecurity remains one of the country's biggest concerns, noting that communities continue to suffer attacks and live in fear. He expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges, drawing on past experiences of political instability and economic hardship.

Akpabio also affirmed that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to restoring security and ensuring the freedom of abducted victims. George Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, assured that efforts to address insecurity and reduce economic burdens on Nigerians are being intensified.
