Accugas Launches Nigeria's First Host Communities Trust

Accugas Limited, the Nigerian midstream subsidiary of Savannah Energy Plc, inaugurated the Board of Trustees for its Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This event marks Accugas as the first midstream operator in Nigeria to establish such a trust.
The HCDT is designed to facilitate community engagement and development initiatives in Accugas’ host communities across Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, aligning with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021. The initiative is also in accordance with the Midstream Petroleum (Host Communities Development Trust) Regulations, 2024, which mandates midstream operators to contribute annually to community development.
Cynthia Nzeh, Senior Manager at NMDPRA, emphasized the significance of this inauguration and urged the Board to operate with integrity and transparency. Nkoyo Etuk, Head of Stakeholder Relations at Savannah Energy, stated that the Trust would enhance community ownership and participation in development projects, building on previous efforts in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
