Eno Upgrades 85-Year-Old School to Modern Learning Hub

On September 8, 2023, Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno inaugurated a newly transformed ultra-modern Model Primary School at Ikpe Mbak Eyop in Obot Akara Local Government Area. Originally established in 1939 by the Methodist Mission, the school has been upgraded to meet contemporary educational standards.

The commissioning was represented by Sir Monday Uko, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, who noted the significance of the project for the future of the state. The renovated facility includes 17 fully furnished classrooms, an ICT center, a library, and solar-powered infrastructure.

Additionally, it provides residential accommodation for teachers and security facilities. Prof. Umoh Umoh, the Commissioner for Education, emphasized that the project aligns with Governor Eno's ARISE Agenda and the state's free education policy, which aids in reducing financial burdens on parents.

Hon. Simon Akpan, Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Area, praised the commissioning as a landmark development, highlighting that two Model Primary Schools have been established in the area within the year.
