Akwa Ibom Housing Projects Create Jobs for 6,000 Workers

The Akwa Ibom State Government's ongoing housing projects have generated direct and indirect employment for between 5,000 and 6,000 people, providing daily incomes ranging from ₦7,000 to ₦12,000 for workers, as stated by the Commissioner for Housing, Rt. Hon. Dr Henry Okon Archibong.
During a ministerial briefing in Uyo, Archibong outlined the housing programme's progress under Governor Umo Eno’s administration, emphasizing its role as both a social intervention and an economic-development strategy. Approximately 150 hectares of land across six Local Government Areas have been earmarked for housing development, with 1,048 housing units at various construction stages.
Key projects include the Aviation Village, which is 98% complete, featuring 100 housing units and community infrastructure, and the Ibom Medical City, which is 70% complete. Additionally, the Judiciary Quarters and Dakadda Luxury Estate are also under construction, contributing to the local economy by benefiting suppliers, transporters, and small businesses.
