Al Jazeera Journalist Killed in Gaza Identified as Militant

On Thursday, the Israeli military announced that Al Jazeera journalist Mohan Wishah, killed in an earlier airstrike in Gaza, was a Hamas militant involved in planning attacks against Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The military described Wishah as a terrorist who exploited his identity as a journalist to advance Hamas's activities.

Al Jazeera condemned the killing, labeling it a heinous crime aimed at intimidating journalists and holding Israeli occupying forces fully responsible. The network reported that Wishah was among 220 journalists killed in the past two and a half years due to Israeli military actions in Gaza, with at least 70 of those fatalities occurring while performing their duties.

The incident occurred despite a ceasefire in effect since October, amid ongoing violence in the region. Al Jazeera announced plans to pursue legal action in response to the killing of its correspondent, seeking justice for fallen journalists.
