Alaafin Urges Enhanced Policing in Yorubaland Amid Insecurity

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has called upon Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, to enhance policing in the region due to increasing insecurity. In a statement issued by the Director of Cultural Public Relations, Ademola Adeniyi, the Alaafin highlighted the importance of developing community-driven support systems that complement formal security structures.

This initiative aims to improve intelligence sharing and early warning mechanisms. The call for action follows a series of violent incidents, including the killing of five park service officers at the Old Oyo National Park and the abduction of a nursing mother and child in Ondo State.

The Alaafin stressed the necessity for visible leadership and constant communication to build trust and prevent panic among communities. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to enhance early threat detection and improve community resilience.
