Alaafin of Oyo Mourns Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan

On Monday, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died at the age of 66 on August 23, 2026, following a battle with stage-four cancer. The Alaafin described Hassan as a “fallen great tree” whose legacy would nourish future generations.

In a message relayed by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan, Owoade reflected on Hassan's impact, stating that while his life had ended, the wisdom and artistry he shared would resonate through time. He emphasized Hassan's role as a custodian of Yoruba heritage, noting that his contributions to the arts would continue to inspire.

Owoade concluded by mourning the loss of a cultural pillar while celebrating the enduring legacy Hassan left behind.
