Alaafin Installs Dr. Adeduntan as New Balogun of Oyo

On Saturday, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade I, formally installed Dr Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, the former Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria, as the new Balogun of Oyo. The installation ceremony took place at the Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo and was attended by prominent figures including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi.

This event marked the first public appearance of Ladoja in Oyo since Oba Owoade's coronation, reinforcing the unity of traditional institutions. The Balogun title, historically a war leader's designation, is now a high-ranking traditional honor.

Adeduntan, recognized for transforming First Bank into a digital institution, pledged to serve with humility and integrity. Oba Owoade praised Adeduntan's character and urged him to uphold the kingdom's values for its development, peace, and unity.
