Oba Adetunji Family Urges Halt to New Mogaji Installation

The family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Saturday appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to prevent a leadership crisis by stopping the planned installation of a new Mogaji in Alusekere compound. The installation is scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2026, and the family argues that it would create confusion since Oloye Gafar Adewale Adetunji was already installed as the Mogaji of Alusekere compound on July 17, 2023, by the late Oba Mohood Lekan Balogun.

The family claims that the new installation would result in two Mogajis from the same Adetunji branch, undermining the existing leadership structure. They allege that some individuals are attempting to create division within the family by misleading the Olubadan-in-Council regarding the legitimacy of the new appointment.

The family has formally communicated their concerns through a letter and has attempted to deliver it to all members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
