Alaafin Oyo Advocates Cross-Border Security Cooperation

On Thursday, Alaafin Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, visited Kwara State to call for enhanced cross-border cooperation to tackle terrorism. During a courtesy visit to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in Ilorin, he stressed the importance of stronger inter-agency collaboration and timely intelligence sharing to manage security threats effectively.

Oba Owoade highlighted the urgency of improving security in rural border communities and major cities, advocating for a rapid response mechanism to ensure safety. He noted that local knowledge and state capacity must be properly integrated into security strategies.

The Alaafin also expressed solidarity with the Yoruba community in Kwara State, emphasizing shared cultural heritage and the importance of traditional rulers in fostering public trust and reducing panic amid security challenges. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq commended the monarch's commitment to peace and security, reaffirming the state government's prioritization of security and the role of traditional institutions in governance.
