Dele Alake Sends Team to Investigate Miners' Deaths

Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Niger State regarding the deaths of detained individuals in Minna. He described the incident as a tragic loss and extended his thoughts and prayers to the bereaved families.

Alake praised Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for initiating a mourning period and establishing an investigative framework to explore the circumstances of the deaths. He underscored the importance of a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences in detention facilities.

The deceased were reportedly arrested on suspicion of illegal mining activities. In response, Alake announced the deployment of a high-powered team from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to Niger State to investigate the incident and collaborate with other authorities to produce a comprehensive report on the findings.
