Serena Williams Aims for US Open Singles Return

Serena Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, is looking to return to singles competition at the US Open, as stated by her current coach Rennae Stubbs. Williams, 44, recently participated in two doubles matches at Wimbledon but lost in the first round.

She withdrew from doubles alongside her sister, Venus Williams, due to a knee injury sustained earlier in the Australian Open. Stubbs mentioned that Williams is eager to play at the US Open, which starts on August 30, and her participation will depend on her physical condition.

Williams is scheduled to compete in WTA 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati leading up to the US Open. Stubbs expressed confidence that returning to hard court surfaces will be beneficial for Williams, who has won 13 major singles titles on such surfaces.

The coach emphasized the importance of getting Williams back into shape for her upcoming matches.
