ALCMAN Advocates for Stronger Local Content in Auto Industry

At the 3rd Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU 2026) held at the Radisson Hotel in Lagos, Chief Anselm Ilekuba, Chairman of the Automotive Local Components Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (ALCMAN), called on the Federal Government to strengthen local content policies and collaborate with indigenous manufacturers. Ilekuba, represented by Mr.

Eze Igwe, General Manager of Cedric Autos, stated that the future of Nigeria's automotive industry relies on developing a strong local component manufacturing base rather than depending on imported vehicle parts. He described the summit's theme, “Nigeria’s Clean Mobility Future: The EV and CNG Journey Under the President Bola Tinubu Administration,” as timely, emphasizing the need for a self-sustaining automotive sector that drives industrialization, job creation, and economic growth.

Ilekuba identified critical factors such as consistent government policies, affordable financing, and improved infrastructure as essential for encouraging local manufacturers. He urged policymakers to focus on local value addition and the integration of local companies into global automotive supply chains.
