Army Warns of Potential Suicide Bombers in Borno

The Nigerian Army has alerted the public to the possibility of multiple suicide bombers operating in Borno, following a devastating attack on Monday, which resulted in 23 fatalities and 108 injuries. The attack, which occurred at approximately 7:05 PM during iftar, targeted a crowded public location, aiming to maximize casualties and instill widespread panic.

Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, the coordinator for the North East Joint Task Force, described the incident as a cowardly act by suspected Boko Haram members who detonated improvised explosive devices. Preliminary intelligence suggests that additional suicide bombers may be deployed in Maiduguri to carry out coordinated attacks.

In response, security forces have intensified surveillance and patrols to track down remaining suspects and prevent further incidents. Emergency response teams, including personnel from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), have been mobilized to provide medical assistance and evacuate casualties to hospitals.

The public is urged to remain vigilant, avoid crowded areas, and report any suspicious activities.
