Nigerian Army Alerts on Multiple Suicide Bombers in Borno

The Nigerian Army has issued a warning about the potential deployment of multiple suicide bombers in Maiduguri, Borno State, following a tragic incident on March 16, 2026, where suicide bombings resulted in the deaths of 23 individuals and injuries to 108 others. The attacks occurred during the iftar period, targeting crowded public areas, including a market and a hospital.

Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, a spokesperson for the Joint Task Force Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed that the bombings were carried out by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. In response, security forces have intensified surveillance and patrols to track down remaining suspects and prevent further attacks.

Emergency response teams, including personnel from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), provided immediate medical assistance to the injured. The public has been advised to remain vigilant, avoid crowded places, and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

This incident marks a continuation of terrorist activities in the region, following previous attacks in December 2025.
