Alex Iwobi Set for 100th Nigeria Cap Against Portugal

Alex Iwobi is poised to achieve his 100th cap for Nigeria's Super Eagles in a match against Portugal. The Fulham midfielder will play alongside notable players like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Iwobi will join the ranks of Nigerian legends such as Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, and Ahmed Musa, who have also reached this milestone. Since making his debut in 2015, Iwobi has participated in various Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, winning a silver medal in 2023 and a bronze in 2019.

He was part of the Nigerian squad at the 2018 World Cup, where he scored a crucial goal against Zambia to secure World Cup qualification. Despite not having won a major trophy with the national team, Iwobi expressed no regrets about choosing to represent Nigeria over England, where he played at the youth level.

He remains committed to his international career and humorously stated he does not plan to retire soon, aiming to break Ahmed Musa's record of 111 caps.
