Benue Governor Declares Week-Long Easter Holiday for Workers

Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has officially declared a week-long Easter holiday for public civil servants in the state.

This announcement was made through a statement issued on Tuesday by Godwin Tighil, the Permanent Secretary of the General Services, on behalf of Deborah Aber, the Secretary to the State Government. The holiday will commence on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 1 PM and will conclude on April 8, 2026.

However, the statement specifies that essential services are to remain operational during this period to address urgent public interests. The governor extended his wishes for a happy holiday to the people of Benue and urged citizens to continue praying for peace in the state and the nation, especially in the spirit of the Easter celebration.

This marks the first time a governor has declared a full week as an Easter holiday for state workers, contrasting with the two-week holiday typically observed during Christmas.
