Benue Governor Alia Declares One-Week Easter Holiday

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State announced a one-week public holiday for civil servants, effective from 1 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to facilitate the observance of Easter celebrations. This announcement was made through a circular signed by Godwin Tighil, the Permanent Secretary of the General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Deborah Aber.

The holiday period will last until Wednesday, April 8, 2026. However, the governor emphasized that workers in essential services are exempt from this holiday and are required to remain on duty to handle critical and urgent public matters.

In his statement, Governor Alia urged citizens to reflect on the values of the Easter season and to continue praying for peace in the state and across the country.
