ADC Chieftain Seeks NJC Probe of Federal High Court Judges

Nkemakolam Ukandu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja to seek an order compelling the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate alleged corruption against Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, and Justice Joyc Abdulmalik. The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1331/2025, was filed on March 3, 2025, and includes Hon.

Dumebi Kachikwu and four others as plaintiffs. Ukandu claims that Justice Abdulmalik should recuse herself from the case due to a manifest bias against the plaintiffs.

The matter escalated when the court allegedly proceeded with hearings despite an appeal pending, leading to further legal actions. The plaintiffs seek various reliefs, including a declaration for the NJC to investigate the judges and an injunction to restrain Justice Abdulmalik from presiding over the case.
