Atiku's Camp Demands Transparency on Tinubu's Drug Case

The camp of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has responded to the Presidency's statement concerning an alleged drug trafficking case involving President Bola Tinubu. The Presidency characterized the ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case in a U.S. federal court as a civil records-disclosure dispute, not a criminal case.

Atiku's aide, Paul Ibe, criticized this explanation as irrelevant, asserting that the core issue is the contents of the FBI and DEA records. He questioned the Presidency's efforts to prevent full disclosure of these records, noting that 399 pages have been produced with redactions.

Ibe highlighted that President Tinubu has intervened in the case to invoke privacy protections. He argued that a 2003 FBI check cannot serve as a blanket assurance against all investigations and emphasized that FOIA exemptions do not imply the allegations against Tinubu are false.

Ibe called for transparency and accountability, insisting that Nigerians deserve to know the truth regarding the President's background.
