Ngige Granted Bail in N2.2bn Fraud Case Amidst Corruption Allegations

Former Anambra State Governor, Ngige, was granted bail by Justice Maryam Hassan in a case involving alleged N2.2bn fraud. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused Ngige of contract fraud and abuse of office during his tenure supervising the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

Ngige pleaded not guilty to the charges, with his defense counsel emphasizing health grounds for bail. The EFCC opposed bail, citing concerns about Ngige's potential flight risk.

Ngige was ordered to fulfill bail conditions and remain remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre until then.
