Ngige to Remain in Custody Until Dec 18 Over N2.2bn Fraud Allegations

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has ordered former Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, to remain in custody at the Nigerian Correctional Service Centre in Kuje, FCT, until December 18. Ngige was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on eight counts of alleged N2.2bn contract fraud and abuse of office during his tenure from September 2015 to May 2023.

His defense counsel, Patrick Ikwueto, requested bail on health grounds, while the EFCC opposed, citing flight risk. The court is set to decide on his bail application on December 18.
