Ex-Minister Ngige Remanded in Kuje Prison on Corruption Charges

Former Nigerian Minister Ngige has been remanded in Kuje Prison by the FCT High Court in Gwarinpa on multiple corruption charges brought by the EFCC. The charges include abuse of office, contract fraud, and unlawfully accepting monetary gifts during his tenure from 2015 to 2023.

Ngige pleaded not guilty to the eight-count charges, which involve influencing contract awards and receiving financial gifts from NSITF contractors. The court proceedings saw Ngige's counsel requesting temporary bail on health grounds, opposed by the EFCC citing flight risk concerns.

The case is set to continue on December 15 for further hearings. Security has been heightened around the court complex due to the high-profile nature of the case.
