Kano Clears Ex-HoS of Salary Fraud Allegations

The Kano State Government has cleared Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the former Head of Service (HoS), of allegations regarding the mismanagement of public funds amounting to N1.8 billion. Following an investigation directed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, it was found that the funds were not misappropriated by government officials.

Instead, the investigation revealed that the amount was linked to excessive deductions from civil servants' salaries by loan vendors operating within the state. The Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, issued a statement confirming these findings.

The Kano State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kabiru Inuwa, had previously alleged mismanagement during an award night event. As a result of the investigation, the state government has temporarily suspended the loan scheme to allow for a comprehensive review and has directed loan vendors to refund the N1.8 billion to affected civil servants, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and worker welfare.
