FUOYE Suspends SUG President Over Extortion Allegations

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has suspended its Student Union Government (SUG) president, Mr. Jame Iyanuoluwa Adio, along with two senior officials, Mr.

Olanrewaju Patrick Ogunjobi, the Director of Educational Technology and Innovation, and Dr. Banji Rildwan Olaley, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs.

This decision follows allegations that they collected unauthorized fees of N1,000 from 100-level students for a practical session. The registrar, Mr.

Mufutau Ibrahim, indicated that the university management received a petition regarding the matter, prompting a preliminary fact-finding committee to investigate. The committee allowed the individuals named in the petition to respond to the allegations.

It was reported that Ogunjobi authorized the collection of the fees without the Senate's approval, violating the university's payment procedures. Olaley participated in the collection process despite his position within the student affairs structure.

The university described these actions as contrary to its campaign against corruption and extortion, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability.
