FUOYE Deputy Dean Claims Suspension Was Pre-Planned

Dr. Banji Olaley, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, has claimed that his suspension, announced on June 10, was orchestrated as part of a long-term investigation into alleged extortion.

Alongside Olanrewaju Ogunjobi, Director of Educational Technology and Innovation, and Jame Adio, President of the Student Union Government, Olaley is accused of unauthorized collection of fees from 100-level students. In an exclusive interview, Olaley maintained that the suspension was a calculated attempt by the current administration to damage his reputation, asserting that they do not support the new Vice Chancellor.

He explained that the controversy arose from a fee collection for practical sessions, which he claims was mismanaged. Despite the ongoing investigation, Olaley has appealed his suspension, questioning the disciplinary process and the basis for the sanctions against him.

He insists that the funds collected were meant to support students and not for personal gain.
