Court Sets March 10 for Malami's Son Terrorism Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has overruled a motion from the defense counsel of former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, regarding the case of alleged terrorism financing and illegal possession of firearms. The court has scheduled the trial to commence on March 10.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had arraigned Abdulaziz Malami on February 27, facing five counts related to terrorism financing and illegal firearm possession. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted bail to Abdulaziz Malami in the amount of N200 million, requiring two sureties with properties in highbrow areas of Abuja.

The prosecution, represented by Rotimi Oyedepo, indicated the need for time to familiarize itself with the case facts. The charges against Abdulaziz include knowingly abetting terrorism financing and possessing firearms without lawful authority, with specific details regarding the types and quantities of firearms involved.
