ALX Africa Advocates for Effective Youth Employment Programs

ALX Africa called for measurable results in youth skills and employability programs during a session held on Wednesday at its Lagos office in Surulere. Ruby Igwe, Regional Manager for West and Central Africa at ALX, stated that the main challenge in the sector is not funding but the delivery of programs.
She noted that while there is significant financial investment in youth programs, many fail to deliver the promised jobs and change due to poor execution. ALX has a proven track record in Nigeria, having trained over 150,000 young people who have transitioned to jobs and improved livelihoods.
The roundtable included notable attendees such as Olaolu Akogun, Acting Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, and others. The discussion focused on successful youth development strategies and how to enhance collaboration among funders and partners.
ALX, part of the African Leadership Group, has trained over 374,000 young people across Africa, with 258,000 securing employment and 60,000 starting businesses.
