Amaechi Claims Jonathan Forced Him Out of PDP

Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transport, alleged that he was compelled to leave the People's Democratic Party (PDP) due to political pressure from former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, who influenced the party's structure in Rivers State. Amaechi's exit from the PDP in 2013 followed his suspension for alleged anti-party activities, leading to his pivotal role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2015 general elections, which resulted in the defeat of Jonathan by Muhammadu Buhari.

Looking towards the 2027 elections, Amaechi expressed his readiness to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the presidency, emphasizing the need for a democratic process that allows voters to choose candidates. He dismissed regional zoning arguments, advocating for qualified candidates regardless of their geographical origins.

Additionally, Amaechi criticized the current administration for failing to address security and inclusivity issues in governance.
