Shehu Barde Assumes Duty as Nigeria's Ambassador in Ghana

Ambassador Shehu Barde arrived in Ghana on June 18, 2023, to assume his duties as Nigeria's ambassador. He received a warm welcome from members of the Nigerian High Commission, including the defense section and trade commission.

Barde was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in March 2023, as part of a broader deployment of various diplomats across the world during the foreign service season. He has been a member of Nigeria's foreign service since 1995, serving in diplomatic missions in Burkina Faso, the United States, Ethiopia, and France.

His appointment as ambassador was confirmed in 2022, and he received a presidential commendation in 2023. Barde, born in Katsina State in 1967, holds a degree in sociology from Bayero University Kano and has undergone professional training at the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy in Lagos, alongside various diplomatic management courses.

He has participated in numerous bilateral and multilateral engagements, including meetings with the African Union and the United Nations, throughout his three-decade public service career.
