65 of 69 Nigerian Ambassadors Accepted by Host Countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 65 out of the 69 Nigerian ambassadors appointed by President Bola Tinubu have been accepted by their respective host countries, resulting in a 97% acceptance rate. The ministry's spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, indicated that the two unresolved appointments are due to Grace Bent, the ambassador-designate for Togo, who declined the offer, and Mohammed Mahmud Lele, the ambassador-designate for Algeria, who passed away on April 19 in Ankara, Turkey, after a prolonged illness.

The ministry is currently in the process of finding replacements for these positions. Ebienfa did not specify the two countries where the appointments are still pending but assured that assurances have been received from these friendly nations that their consent will be granted in due course.

The ministry expressed confidence in the ongoing diplomatic process, stating that the majority of the ambassadors have already arrived in their host countries and have begun their representational duties after presenting their letters of credence.
