CAFL's Mohammed El Mohammed Promotes American Football in Nigeria

Mohammed El Mohammed, the Commissioner of the Continental American Football League of Africa (CAFL), stated that Nigeria's sporting talent could generate thousands of jobs and economic opportunities through American football. This announcement was made in Makurdi, Benue State, during the launch of the CAFL Nigeria Team Cities, which will initially cover 16 cities.

El Mohammed emphasized that the initiative aims to establish American football in Nigeria before expanding to other African nations. He noted that while the National Football League (NFL) had 137 African players at the start of the 2026 season, there is not enough space for all qualified Nigerian and African players.

El Mohammed identified Nigeria as the ideal starting point due to its rich sporting talent and contributions in various fields. After a year and a half of study, Benue was chosen as a key location for this project, with expectations that it will significantly contribute to the development of American football in Nigeria and Africa, while also becoming a major tourism destination.
