AMJON to Host Maritime Training Summit in Lagos

The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) is organizing the 2026 Maritime Training Summit in Lagos, scheduled for September 4th. The summit will focus on innovation, technology, and skills development to strengthen Nigeria's maritime workforce.

The theme of the summit emphasizes the importance of a competent and technology-driven workforce, given Nigeria's strategic coastal location for global maritime trade. A key feature will be a presentation by Dr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, discussing technological and operational reforms within the service and their implications for trade facilitation and economic security.

Other topics will include artificial intelligence in maritime operations, digitalization of ports, maritime safety, workforce reskilling, and aligning training institutions with the evolving demands of the maritime sector. AMJON President Vera Osokpo will also address the need for innovation in maritime education.
