INEC Cannot Guarantee Perfect Elections in 2027, Says Amupitan

During a town hall meeting organized by the Civil Society Network in Abuja, Amupitan expressed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot ensure a perfect election in 2027. He highlighted the necessity for simplified language in the Electoral Act to ensure that every Nigerian can understand its provisions.

Amupitan noted logistical challenges faced during the recent FCT area council elections, where results were not transmitted in a timely manner. He mentioned that the success of elections should be measured by factors such as peaceful conduct and effective result management.

Despite acknowledging that achieving a 100% perfect election is not feasible, he emphasized the importance of striving for the best possible electoral process. He also pointed out issues with real-time result transmission and the need for technological deployment and testing to enhance transparency and credibility in future elections.
