Tobi Amusan Wins 100m Hurdles at Grand Prix Brescia

Tobi Amusan won the women's 100m hurdles at the Grand Prix Brescia in Italy on Sunday, finishing with a time of 12.56 seconds despite a challenging 1.7m/s headwind. She outperformed American hurdler Alaysha Johnson, who finished second in 12.62 seconds, and Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, who took third place in 12.75 seconds.

This victory comes shortly after American hurdler Masai Russell broke Amusan's world record at the Zurich Diamond League, running 12.09 seconds, which surpassed Amusan's previous record of 12.12 seconds set during the semi-finals of the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Amusan had also placed second in that race with a season's best of 12.23 seconds.

Both athletes are set to compete again at the Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium, scheduled for September 4 to 5. Amusan is a three-time Diamond League champion, having won titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and aims to reclaim her crown this year.
