Zaidu Sanusi Out for Two Months Due to Injury

Zaidu Sanusi, a defender for FC Porto, will be out for approximately two months following an adductor injury to his right leg. The injury occurred in the 17th minute of Porto's 3-0 victory over Académico de Viseu on Saturday.

Medical tests conducted on Sunday confirmed the injury, with the Portuguese publication O Jogo reporting that Sanusi is anticipated to return only after the next international break. Sanusi received treatment on the field but could not continue, leading to Martim Fernandes replacing him.

Porto's coach, Francesco Farioli, expressed concern over the severity of the injury, indicating it appeared serious. This injury is a significant setback for Sanusi, who had played every minute of Porto's league campaign prior to this match and remains a key player in Farioli's plans, despite being in the final year of his contract.

His expected absence could also exclude him from Nigeria's upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, set to begin next month. Porto currently leads the league standings with 12 points from four matches.
