Tobi Amusan to Launch 2026 Diamond League in Shanghai

Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women's 100m hurdles, will begin her 2026 Diamond League campaign in Shanghai, scheduled for Saturday, just three days after participating in the African Senior Athletics Championships in Ghana. Amusan, who has already established herself as a successful athlete, is Nigeria's biggest medal hope at the continental championship in Accra.

She previously won gold in the women's 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay at the 2018 championships in Asaba and secured the hurdles gold and relay title at the 2022 edition in Mauritius. In the upcoming Diamond League event, Amusan will compete against notable athletes, including reigning world champion Ditaji Kambundji and Olympic champion Masai Russell.

The Shanghai meet will officially open the 2026 Diamond League season, concluding with the finals in Brussels on September 4-5. Amusan's personal best remains 12.12 seconds, the fastest time ever recorded in the event.
