NBC Confirms Analogue Signal Switch-Off for December 2028

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has firmly stated that the analogue signal switch-off will not occur until December 31, 2028, providing a full 30-month window from July 2026. This announcement was made by Clementin Usman, Deputy Director and Head of Digital Switch Over (DSO) at the NBC, during the South West Broadcast Summit in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Usman emphasized the importance of this timeline, countering erroneous claims that the cut-off would happen in August 2026. NBC Director General Charl Ebuebu confirmed the December 2028 timeline in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, indicating that various preparations are underway for this transition.

The DSO program aims to provide Nigerians with access to a wide array of television channels without monthly subscription costs, launching a free TV platform on June 17, 2026. The NBC is also working on expanding access to mobile devices through a dedicated application.
