NBC Urges Stations to Meet 2028 Digital Switch Deadline

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has tasked broadcasting stations across Nigeria to align their operations with the 2028 global deadline for digital switch-over (DSO). During the DSO South West Summit held in Ibadan, Clementin Wamba, head of DSO at NBC, presented the topic "DSO: The Big Picture." Wamba stressed the necessity for practitioners to adopt DSO transmission and new programming to meet future challenges.

She warned that failure to align with the DSO by 2028 could lead to the shutdown of broadcasting practices, resulting in job losses and hindering the growth of the industry in Nigeria. Wamba also highlighted that the transition to digital broadcasting would improve the viewing experience and allow for better access to national development programs, contrasting it with the long-standing analogue system.
