NBC Sets 2028 Deadline for Nigeria's Digital Broadcasting Switch

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has set a deadline of 2028 for the nationwide switch from analog to digital broadcasting in Nigeria. Clementin Wamba, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at NBC, emphasized the importance of training installers to assist in this transition.

The training sessions are being conducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) initiative. Wamba noted that with the switch, Nigerians currently relying on analog signals will no longer be able to access television broadcasts.

The NBC aims to provide free access to channels through the installation of digital decoders, enabling viewers to receive signals without subscription fees. Raji Taohe Olanrewaju highlighted that this initiative will create job opportunities for youth in the country.

Gbenga Oluduro mentioned that the training will equip participants with the technical skills necessary for installing digital decoders, further supporting the DSO project.
