NBC Urges Stations to Meet 2028 Digital Switch Over Deadline

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has called on broadcasting stations across Nigeria to work towards meeting the 2028 global deadline for the Digital Switch Over (DSO). Mr.

Clementin Wamba, during the DSO Big Picture presentation at the NBC South West Summit held in Ibadan, stressed the importance of adopting new transmission programs to address future challenges. He warned that failure to align with the DSO by 2028 could result in job losses and hinder the growth of the broadcasting industry in Nigeria.

Wamba noted that the transition to digital broadcasting would improve the media landscape and provide better viewing experiences for audiences. He highlighted that free TV channels would be tailored to DSO provisions, contrasting with the long-standing analogue system.

The NBC aims to ensure that practitioners tune into global broadcasting practices, which include efficient spectrum usage and the development of national programs.
