Anambra Chiefs Support Soludo's Panel on Awka Stool

Chiefs in Anambra have shown their support for a panel established by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to address the ongoing dispute over the Awka traditional stool. The panel, chaired by Justice Paul Obidigw, submitted its report, which concluded that Chief Gibson Nwosu was unlawfully dethroned without valid grounds and denied a fair hearing.

The report also indicated that Chief Austin Ndigw was not lawfully selected for the stool, violating due process. The Ez Ozo Society, represented by its president, emphasized the need for unity and alignment with the state government once the white paper is issued.

Governor Soludo highlighted the importance of law and order in resolving traditional disputes, stating that no community in Anambra should allow traditional rulers to resolve conflicts independently. The panel received 32 memoranda and 28 oral testimonies during its inquiry, and the governor is expected to study the recommendations for issuing a white paper.
