Awka Kingmakers Reject Inquiry Panel's Report on Kingship

The Awka Council of Kingmakers, represented by Isaac Ojo and signed by Chief Chuk Nweke, has unequivocally rejected the report from a panel of inquiry set up by Governor Charles Soludo to address the traditional kingship dispute in Awka. The council condemned the panel for overstepping its authority and interfering with ongoing judicial processes, asserting that the matter is currently under the jurisdiction of the court.

They criticized the panel's composition, particularly noting the inclusion of non-indigenes and the lack of culturally qualified members. The council emphasized that the panel's findings were superficial and failed to adequately consult key stakeholders within the Awka kingdom.

The kingmakers urged Governor Soludo to prioritize governance issues in Anambra State and allow the traditional kingship matter to be resolved solely by the court, highlighting the division within the community between the two rival factions led by HRH Igw Austin Ndigw and HRH Igw Gibson Nwosu.
