Soludo and Traditional Rulers Collaborate to Tackle Insecurity

Anambra Governor Charles Soludo and traditional rulers met to address the ongoing insecurity and leadership crisis in Awka. During the meeting, Soludo announced the suspension of plans to prosecute individuals linked to the protracted traditional leadership crisis, advocating for dialogue and reconciliation instead.

He emphasized the need for peace and harmony in the state capital and recognized the role of traditional institutions in maintaining law and order. Soludo warned against the installation of parallel traditional rulers, stating that Anambra law prohibits such actions and prescribes sanctions for violations.

The governor linked the resolution of the leadership dispute to broader security strategies and highlighted ongoing urban renewal efforts in Awka, including the completion of a 57-building lighthouse complex. He urged residents to embrace Awka's transformation into a modern metropolitan city and called for a review of security arrangements for the upcoming Imo Awka festival scheduled for May 23.
